Committee Mandate
The Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the Data Hub Oversight Group, oversees the strategic development and operation of the SCD data hub project and is specifically charged with:
- Identifying key data points for collection and exchange;
- Gauging the interest and ability of institutions to contribute data; and
- Providing guidance on changes in the diagnosis and treatment of sickle cell disease that may affect Data Hub policies and operational decisions specific to this disease-specific project
The efforts of the SCD Subcommittee require specialized skills and subject matter expertise across varied disciplines, including health informatics, data science, and international data exchange, in addition to clinical and research expertise within SCD. Members of the subcommittee are experts in the relevant areas and are expected to inform the SCD registry project by participating in regular conference calls as well as email discussions as necessary.
The Chair of the SCD Subcommittee serves as a liaison member of the Data Hub Oversight Group, reporting key activities and milestones during monthly oversight group conference calls.
