The ASH Research Collaborative® Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Clinical Trials Network (CTN) is a mission driven research effort using a collaborative network of clinical trial research sites, a comprehensive patient engagement approach, and optimized clinical trial operations to focused on advancing development of new and more effective therapeutics for individuals with sickle cell disease.
The Scientific Review Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the SCD CTN Oversight Committee, is tasked with:
The membership of the Scientific Review Subcommittee includes a minimum of 12 members representing expertise in bioethics, biostatistics, bone marrow transplant, gene editing/therapy, SCD clinical trial, and SCD general medicine. This membership structure ensures that every scientific review has at least three to five conflict-free reviewers. In some instances, an ad hoc group may need to be established for protocol review based on sponsor request. Members participate in regular conference calls and email discussions as necessary.
The Chair of the Scientific Review Subcommittee serves as a liaison member of the SCD CTN Oversight Committee which convenes as necessary via conference call and up to three meetings per year.
